This weekend, students from our school will star in the Guilderland Players’ production of “Noises Off.” A British comedy written by Michael Frayn, the play has been a gem in the theater universe for the past thirty years. “Noises Off” is a play within a play, not unlike the musical to be produced in the spring, “Curtains.” This type of show is particularly hard to perform because each actor has to pretend to act in a show within a different show, causing many upsets, drama, and comedy between the characters.
The ensemble cast stars Guilderland High School students Maksim Papenkov, Anna Fernandez, Avery Maycock, Hannah Hernandez, Shane Walsh, Ashley Visker, Eliana Rowe, Winsor Jewell, and Andrew Kedik.Eliana Rowe, who plays the character “Poppy,” says about the show “it’s so frazzled. There is so much running around constantly.” The actors have had only two months of rehearsal to prepare the three-act show. Furthermore, the stage crew has managed to put together a grand and glorious set, with dozens of twists and doors and steps, in only two months.
For a night full of laughter, come support your peers this weekend as they perform “Noises Off!” The show runs Thursday through Saturday at 7:00 each night. Tickets are available at the door for five dollars.
