Living in a small world

with a big dream,

I don’t have time

to keep track of my life.

I wish the season was summer

no matter what season it is.

I always will be busy

following a big dream.

If only I knew my loved ones would

help me…

I may be too young

to have a big dream

but it’s never too late to believe.

I hear a voice of an angel-

She says, “This is your time to make it bright.”

I feel my heart play a drum, it’s warm and punchy.

Knowing that the dream

will taste like summer of love

is reassuring.

I know I will get there,

I have to hang in there,

but sometimes you don’t always get what you want.

even when you try so hard.

I came here to know what it’s like

 to have a big dream

living in a small world

someday, someone will be by your side

help your dream along through

Life is too short to wait

Fight of the century a fight of integrity

EDDY YU

Perhaps the biggest sporting matchup up of the year, tonight Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will face each other in the arena at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Mayweather is undefeated(47-0) and World Boxing Association and World Boxing Council champion while Pacquiao is a World Boxing Organization champion and has won many tough battles in the past.

Mayweather is 38 years old and is known for his brash and self-promoting personality. He flaunts his money and has gotten in trouble with the law in the past including jail time for a series of domestic violence issues. On the other hand, 36 year old Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao is known for his humble demeanour and his strong faith in God. Pacquiao also represents the hope of the impoverished nation of Philippines, where all the Filipinos will be cheering on their hero tonight.

Mayweather claims to be ready for perhaps the biggest fight of his career. “My thing is to focus on what we’ve got to do tomorrow. I’ve dedicated myself to the sport of boxing for more than 20 years, and I’m ready.” Mayweather has shown how much he wants to win this fight as he has been heard saying “I never wanted to win a fight so bad in my life.” Despite Mayweather being the favorite, Pacquiao is not worried, stating “No one thought I could beat Oscar, and I was the underdog then. Maybe it’s good for me.” Siding with Pacquiao, Guilderland sophomore RJ Porter replied “I think Pacquiao because he is dedicated and works hard,” when asked who he thought would come out on top.

A total of 400 million dollars is estimated to be generated from this fight, with Mayweather estimated to earn $180 million and Pacquiao $100 million. Unfortunately, the fight is pay by view, which means that each person has to pay to watch it on their television, whether they have cable or not. The cost to get it on your television is $99.99, a new record for the most expensive pay by view price. However, if you don’t want to spend that much cash, go get together with a bunch of friends and have a boxing party, paying significantly less. Fight starts at 11:00 pm EST.

Poem: Internal War

BY ELIANA ANELISCIA ROWE

There’s a war inside of me

fighting violently

wanting to break free

slay the fear that longs to sever my redemption

There’s a loud battle cry reaching into the night

that begs for a different ending

holding a dingy white flag

She wants them to hear the truth

but they are deaf to the lies

unwilling to compromise

only deny and accept the hate

that seems to satisfy their fury

There is a man who gave ‘way his hope

to pay his way out of this war

ever since he let it go

he’s lost sight of his soul

he’s wandrin’

searching aimlessly

claiming to be

…lost

So many were lost in this war

nearly broken

bruised

dead

attempting to settle the score

crying out God, just come take me now

you got what you wanted

But as soon as those words reach the tip of our tongues

the light returns quickly and pulls us up and out of our

own death traps

and finally the war is over

we’ve won.
